On April 18, the 120th Boston Marathon yet again gives the area’s enthusiastic running fans the opportunity to cheer on an international field of elite and amateur harriers as they battle the famed 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton to the Hub’s Copley Square. As if this wasn’t enough of a reason to celebrate the yearly Patriots’ Day spectacle and the oldest annual race of its kind in the world, Bobbi Gibb (pictured, inset)—the first woman to complete the marathon—presides over the race as Grand Marshall, riding ahead of the pack in a pace car on the 50th anniversary of her pioneering achievement. Also an artist, Gibb is currently in the process of creating a long-overdue sculptural tribute to the marathon’s female
