James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schlow has been dazzling Boston diners since the debut of the late, great Radius in 1999. His latest venture, Doretta Taverna and Raw Bar (Heritage on the Garden, 79 Park Plaza, 617-422-0008, dorettaboston.com), brings the flavors of Greece to the Hub. Presenting simple, accessible and bold Mediterranean flavors, Doretta (derived from the word “doro,” Greek for “gift”) also boasts a 60-foot mural painted by Schlow’s wife, Adrienne. Patrons can customize their dining experience by enjoying the raw bar, spreads served with homemade flatbreads, small plates (like grilled octopus with lemon, onions and capers, pictured), entrees or sides, or simply sample from all parts of the menu. A seasonal approach to the menu and fresh, local ingredients should also keep customers coming back to this welcome addition to Boston’s restaurant scene.
