Since 1965, the Head of the Charles Regatta (hocr.org) has drawn thousands of top athletes from across the globe, captivating fans as they sprint down the Charles River seeking bragging rights in their respective classes. The 2015 edition of this great tradition is no different, as the weekend of October 17 & 18 features nearly 9,000 rowers competing in more than 50 events, all cheered on by hundreds of thousands of spectators. One of the best viewing spots is the halfway point between the Anderson and Weeks bridges, although all of the bridges along the course are popular vantage points. For those looking for a break from the action, don’t miss the Rowing & Fitness Expo on the Boston side of the river near the finish line, where shoppers can talk with representatives from top rowing and boat manufacturers while viewing the latest apparel from Brooks Brothers, New Balance and Sperry Top-Sider.
