Made in Japan

Newbury Street, the Back Bay’s prime shopping boulevard, has had a decidedly Asian flair since the opening of the Muji (muji.com/us) pop-up shop at 297 Newbury Street in early December. The latest outpost for the minimalist Japanese lifestyle brand is merely a precursor, however, to the full-fledged, 10,000-square-foot flagship store set to debut January 27 at 359 Newbury Street, which will feature a dazzling variety of clothing, furniture and accessories, as well as custom services including clothing embroidery and in-store-mixed scented oils. For now, though, shoppers can enjoy browsing a variety of Muji’s signature items, from refillable pens and acrylic organizers to kitchenware and Boston-themed stamps.
